Stephon Marbury Calls Derrick Rose’s $2.1 Million Contract a ‘Crime’

Derrick Rose joined the Cleveland Cavaliers on just a one-year deal worth a reported $2.1 million, a contract that disappointed former NBA star Stephon Marbury.

“WTF is going on in the NBA. I’ve watched guys that shouldn’t be in the game let alone the money their getting. DRose is a Monster!” he continued in a chain of tweets while responding to fans. “Really? A MVP for that amount of money. Not even haters will agree with the price tag.”

One of his most interesting statements came when it was suggested Rose turned down other offers. Marbury noted LeBron James should have helped the veteran get a better deal while also questioning if the four-time MVP is on his way out:

Rose certainly isn’t the player he was when he won MVP with the Chicago Bulls as injuries have derailed his career. However, he averaged 18 points and 4.4 assists per game last season with the New York Knicks to go with a 47.1 percent shooting percentage.

While he had made over $21 million last season, he reportedly had to take a major pay cut in order to compete with a contender.

Bleacher Report recently mocked the significant drop in salary:

Marbury hasn’t played in the NBA since 2009, but has had a successful run playing in China for the past eight seasons. He will spend his final year in basketball this season with the Beijing Fly Dragons.
