On Thursday, ESPN.com’s Chris Haynes reported the sides agreed to terms on a new contract for the 2017-18 season.
Terms have yet to be disclosed.
McGee took to Instagram after the reported signing:
McGee signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Warriors last year. He made the team out of training camp and was an instrumental piece off the bench for head coach Steve Kerr.
In 77 games with the Warriors, McGee shot a career-high 65.2 percent and averaged 23.0 points with 11.9 rebounds per 36 minutes, per Basketball Reference.
The 29-year-old McGee even called this a big bounce-back season after struggling to stay healthy the previous three years.
“This has been somewhat of a redemption season,” McGee told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears in May. “This has been a great opportunity and platform to show what I have and to help this team.”
Given McGee’s lengthy injury history prior to 2016-17, the Warriors are betting big on his ability to stay healthy. He’s got a tremendous ceiling, as he showed last year, and is still at an age when can stay effective.
