Tony Allen Rumors: Clippers, Timberwolves Interested in Veteran Wing

With the first phase of NBA free agency complete, veteran guard Tony Allen is starting to see his market develop.

Per ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves have shown interest in Allen.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers and Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau previously worked with Allen when he played for the Celtics from 2004-10, when Rivers was with the team and Thibodeau was an assistant from 2007-10.

Allen has spent the last seven seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and has been a solid role player. The 35-year-old averaged 9.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 71 games last season.

The Clippers are in search of depth at shooting guard after losing Jamal Crawford. The Timberwolves don’t have a shooting guard on their roster after Brandon Rush became a free agent and trading Zach LaVine to the Chicago Bulls as part of the Jimmy Butler deal.
