Nick Young Reportedly Target for ‘Several’ Teams Amid Warriors Rumors

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly not the only team interested in swingman Nick Young.

On Monday, Sam Amick of USA Today said it’s “a possibility” Young winds up in Golden State, but he also reported “several other teams [are] still in the mix” for the sharpshooter.

This comes after Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reported Young drew interest from the Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans as free agency began at midnight ET on July 1. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN called the 32-year-old Young “a serious candidate” for at least a portion of Golden State’s $5.2 million taxpayer mid-level exception.

It is no surprise Young has caught the eye of a number of teams in today’s space-oriented NBA, as outside shooting has become increasingly imperative.

He drilled 40.4 percent of his shots from three-point range this past season for the Los Angeles Lakers and has connected on 37.6 percent of his triples since he entered the league in 2007. The 2016-17 campaign was the third time Young connected on at least 40 percent of his threes for an entire season.

Young’s decision on where to play may come down to a balancing of his priorities. Golden State would give him an excellent opportunity to win a title, while other teams would likely offer him more playing time after he just started a career-high 60 games in 2016-17.
