Vince Carter Rumors: Veteran SF Reportedly to Meet with Kings

The Sacramento Kings are apparently looking for some veteran leadership in the form of 40-year-old Vince Carter.

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Carter is set to meet with the Kings Monday.

The free agent averaged 8.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 73 games last season with the Memphis Grizzlies.

He discussed his future Sunday in an interview on NBA TV:

“Once you’re around that long, I understand how it goes,” Carter said. “I’m not the priority, but I know I can help a team out.”

When asked how much longer he will play, he said he is “thinking two [more years] at the most.”

In a recent appearance on The Jump (h/t NBC Sports), the guard also discussed a potential move to the Golden State Warriors to help him win a title, although his options are open.

Carter is an eight-time All-Star who was once one of the most dynamic players in the league. Although he isn’t quite the elite scorer he once was, he has developed into a valued role player who has reached the playoffs in each of the last four years.

The Kings might not be the best opportunity to get back to the postseason after an 11-year drought for the organization, but he could find plenty of playing time and provide some much-needed leadership to an otherwise young squad.
