Joe Ingles, Jazz Reportedly Agree to Terms on 4-Year, $52 Million Contract

Joe Ingles is set to return to the Utah Jazz after the sides agreed on a new deal for the restricted free agent, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, the contract is reportedly worth $52 million over four years.

While Ingles turned heads during the 2016-17 campaign with a career-best effort, he expressed his desire to stay put.

“Everyone knows that I want to come back,” he said in May, per Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune. “I couldn’t think of a better place to come back. Hopefully it all works out and it’s a nice, quick process.”

Utah clearly felt the same way by agreeing to a long-term deal with the forward.

He was durable once again in 2016-17, appearing in a full 82-game schedule after playing in 79 contests as a rookie and 81 in 2015-16. He also demonstrated steady improvement and tallied career highs in points (7.1), rebounds (3.2), assists (2.7) and steals per game (1.2) with an efficient 45.2 percent shooting clip from the field.

Ingles is most valuable as a three-point marksman and shot a career-best 44.1 percent from downtown in 2016-17. He can stretch defenses and take advantage of openings but is also versatile enough to handle the ball when needed.

He can be a plus defender, and he held opponents to shooting marks that were 1.6 percentage points lower than their normal averages last season, per NBA.com.

Ingles will be 30 years old during the 2017-18 campaign, but he played critical minutes with Utah’s core and is playoff-tested after the Jazz advanced to the second round.
