The Minnesota Timberwolves may not be done making upgrades to their roster, as the team is reportedly looking to add a point guard in free agency.
Point guard Kris Dunn, who was drafted fifth overall by Minnesota last year, was part of the package sent to Chicago in the Butler trade.
Ricky Rubio and Tyus Jones are the primary point guards still on Minnesota’s roster. Rubio has never found the shooting touch to become a consistent scorer, including hitting just 40.2 percent of his field goals last season.
Lowry is the biggest name among Minnesota’s potential free-agent targets. He averaged a career-high 22.4 points in 60 games for the Toronto Raptors last season and has made three straight All-Star teams.
After finishing the 2016-17 season with a 31-51 record, the Timberwolves are taking steps to make themselves serious playoff contenders in the Western Conference and appear willing to open their wallet to make another big splash when free agency starts in July.
