Hayes went undrafted, but he did work out for the Knicks during the predraft process, per Begley.
As a senior last season, Hayes averaged 14.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for the Badgers.
The 6’8″ native of Toledo, Ohio, shot 45.7 percent from the field, but he shot just 31.4 percent from beyond the arc and struggled at the free-throw line by converting at a rate of just 58.7 percent.
Although Hayes’ shooting leaves something to be desired, he is a tough, gritty player with good length who excels on the defensive end.
Hayes also has a great deal of experience playing in pressure-packed games, as Wisconsin consistently made deep NCAA tournament runs during his tenure.
The Knicks are a rebuilding team that should have plenty of opportunities available, which makes them an ideal landing spot for Hayes.
