Philadelphia 76ers Reportedly Looking to Trade for 2nd 2017 1st-Round Draft Pick

TNT’s David Aldridge reported Thursday that the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to trade for another first-round pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

Aldridge added that the Sixers would like to get a pick in the 20s, and are offering two second-round picks at No. 36 and No. 39 to move up.

The 76ers have already been wheeling and dealing in advance of the draft, as they traded the No. 3 overall pick and a future first-round pick to the Boston Celtics for the No. 1 overall selection.

Provided Philadelphia takes Washington guard Markelle Fultz with that pick, it will have a supremely talented young core that also includes Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Dario Saric.

Even if the Sixers end up with Fultz, they could benefit from some additional backcourt depth.

A trade back into the latter portion of the first round may be able to net Philly another guard such as Adelaide’s Terrance Ferguson, Derrick White of Colorado, Oklahoma State’s Jawun Evans or Frank Jackson of Duke.

A high-ceiling frontcourt prospect like Duke’s Harry Giles could also be in the mix should a trade be consummated.

The 76ers haven’t reached the playoffs since 2011-12, but the process finally appears to be coming together as they continue to add elite talents to the mix.
